It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to Syracuse for the 2008 New York State Fair. This summer’s event promises to be one of the most exciting and enjoyable yet.
For 162 years, the Great New York State Fair has served as a venue for some of the best of what the Empire State has to offer. The nearly 1 million visitors who pass through its gates each summer experience top-notch entertainment, fascinating exhibits, thrilling midway attractions, a vast array of culinary delights, and, of course, New York State agriculture.
This year, the state’s largest industry will again take center stage, as thousands of people from across New York show their finest produce and livestock in high-caliber competitions. An expanded Pride of New York exhibit will help bring visitors closer to the local sources of the food they depend on.
The Fair has historically been a showcase for business, technological and scientific innovation. This year, the Vision New York exhibit, in the Center of Progress Building, marks a return to that tradition. Accordingly, I am proud to note that two of the state’s top priorities – environmental sustainability and energy conservation – are major themes of the 2008 event.
Above all, however, the Fair is fun. For 12 days each year, families and individuals from across the state and beyond gather with parents, children and good friends to embrace this affordable opportunity for one last memorable outing before summer’s end. They know they will find a diverse mix of quality music, delicious food, unique cultural events, thought-provoking displays, exciting rides and other entertainment unique to this special occasion.
Yes, fun is truly in the air at the Great New York State Fair.
Warmest regards,
The Empire Expo Center's single largest event, the Fair is a 12-day summer showcase of the best New York State's agriculture, entertainment, education, industry, and technology.
You will view over 375 acres of animals, exhibits and displays. See live performances from the biggest names in entertainment. Enjoy Midway rides and games of skill. And savor mountains of mouth-watering food. No wonder almost one million people visited the Fair last year.
We look forward to seeing you again this year - August 21 through September 1, 2008!
